A “local knowledge” tour along the Sandy river, it’s gorge and valley. NO boring roads here, mostly county roads following the river upstream along the gorge and valley carved out by Mt Hood in the recent (geologically speaking) past with lahars and flooding. We will start from Lewis and Clark park, exit 18 on Eastbound I-84 in Troutdale and head upstream along the Sandy, to just past it’s confluence with the Zig-Zag river. Then cross the Sandy river for the 3rd time and head downstream, following more ide roads through the valley, ending with lunch in the town of Sandy, at the Red Shed public house. A rest stop is scheduled at the 20 mile mark, at Dodge park, a city of Portland park, on the Sandy river. This being October, I understand that, unlike my on “great beastie”, who takes after his feline namesake, Panthera Onca, there are many other cats who do not like to be out in the wet. Therefore this is open to all marques, not only JLR.
These are all county/state roads, some very twisty, some narrow, lots of ups and downs, and entertaining. The pace shall be kept “leisurely”
We shall meet at Lewis and Clark parking lot at 09:30 AM, departing from there ~ 10:15 AM.
