Subject Fuel and oil recomendation

I'm going to become a Jaguar owner this weekend with the purchase of a pristine 1987 Series II XJ6. I'll be driving back to Oregon from California and would like to know the recommended octane rating for fuel, and also what kind of oil should I buy if needed. Synthetic or refined? What viscosity?

I'll be joining JOCO soon.
