Jaguar Owners Club of Oregon

WHAT IS JOCO

The Jaguar Owners Club of Oregon (JOCO) is a non-profit organization of Jaguar owners and enthusiasts. We meet on a regular basis, generally once a month, occasionally more, depending on the occurrence of special events. Our meetings are social events and always feature something fun and interesting. Bar-B-Q's, tours, rallies, The Historic Races and the All British Field Meet, both held at Portland International Raceway, and the Jaguar Concours d'Elegance, are some of the activities scheduled throughout the year.

Organizational and constitutional issues are dealt with and brought before the voting membership by the JOCO Board of Directors. Voting members must be Jaguar owners but membership is open to enthusiasts who do not yet have their own Cat.

To become a JOCO member navigate to our CONTACT page and provide us the necessary information along with your dues and we'll add you to the roster. You will receive our complete monthly newsletter, The CATFANCIER, and the club roster when it next goes to print. To help identify you as a Jaguar owner or enthusiast, or as a JOCO member feel free to purchase items from our regalia inventory. To see what we have available, go to our regalia section.

The club was first formed in September 1961 under the name of Jaguar Club of Oregon, It never grew very large and was mainly a social club, with little car-related activity. The annual "July Jaunt" and Christmas Party were the first big events. The major achievement of the club was to help organize the first of the interstate meets involving Washington, Oregon and California Jaguar clubs. The first of these was in 1964 at Medford with 45 cars and 90 people taking part. In 1965 the meet was held in Coos Bay and in 1966, the meet was held in Bend where it was called the 'Tri-State Meet".

Sometime after this the club dissolved. At the last dinner meeting, only two people came ... and that ended that. The club was started again in 1968 by five enthusiastic Jaguar fanders, Dick Hodgson, Wayne Bagley, Bob Fox, Alex Schneider, and Ron Schilling and the name changed to Jaguar Owners Club of Oregon. " The new club rejoiced in monthly winter meetings that included speakers and Jaguar-related movies at the dinner meetings; rallies, picnic and overnight trips in the summer. By 1970, the club had grown to 24 members and they with practically "zero" in the bank, voted to put on that year's "Tri-State Meet", and re-named it the "Western States Meet" in the process. The meet was held at the Country Squire, just north of Eugene and was a big success, proving that enthusiasm can overshadow financing.

'Western States" Which has grown to over 150 Jaguars, continues to be held on every even year. The "All British Field Meet" (See "History of ABFM") was first held in 1976 at Blue Lake Park. The next year, the Jaguar Owners Club again held the JCNA concours at the Blue Lake Park and invited other British cars this time. The All British Field Meet has grown significantly and is orginazed annually by a group of British Car Clubs.

Dinner meetings, rallies, drive-outs, tech sessions and concours's make up our yearly activities. In the field of concours d'elegance, the club has had numerous
Jaguars that have been "National Champions". We've grown considerably from 5 members in 1968 to an average of 100 members. Their cars range from the rare early classic 55 cars to the country's newest. If you are interested in being a part of history and Jaguar cars, our Membership applications are available
